George B. Weatherbee Elementary School

Our citizenship program is designed to encourage students to take responsibility for doing their best each day. Our school mascot is the Weatherbee Bobcat and we have coordinated the “Weatherbee Way” with our classroom expectations. A list of rules follow.

 

This year we are using Class Dojo as an online management tool.  You will be able to log on at home and stay updated daily, as well as communicate any questions or concerns to us, their teachers.  Students will earn points for making good choices, staying on task, working as a team, helping others, and following directions, etc.  It also provides a way for students to reflect if they slip, make a conscious correction, and earn those points back by the end of the day.

 

Here are our class rules:

(A copy has been placed in the front of your child’s planner for easy reference.)

 

Green Rule:  Do your morning jobs as soon as you arrive.

 

This means: Unstack your chair.

Sign up for lunch.

Turn in your planner and homework.

Get a drink of water.

Go to the bathroom.

Quietly do morning assignment.

 

Orange Rule:  Listen attentively.

 

This means: Look at the person speaking.

Listen carefully and think about what they are saying.

 

 

Red Rule:  Follow directions immediately.

 

This means: Stop what you are doing immediately.

Look at me.

Listen to the direction carefully.

Follow the direction quickly and quietly.

 

Purple Rule:  Raise your hand and wait to be called on.

 

This means:  If you have something you want to say, raise your hand and wait patiently to be called on. This takes a lot of self-control!

 

Blue Rule: Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.

 

This means: Keep your body in your own space.

 

Yellow Rule:  Follow work station expectations.

 

This means that you are working and staying on task when you are at a station, and that you move quietly to the next station when time is up.
